After Christmas the explosion of diet culture begins often as people’s ‘New Years resolution’. Gym memberships and diet books are plastered all over social media both in advertising and people’s attempt to motivate themselves. It is impossible to get away from but it has made me think, what has a world become? We are more obsessed with our image and fitness that our goals are no longer about the way in which we as a human being can help society and improve the life of others. We are more concerned about how those around us view us. As a recovered anorexic I know first hand how dangerous diets can be, but more importantly how dangerous society’s influence can be on self esteem and how we view ourselves. It’s not you that needs to change. It’s society that needs to change. The emphasis needs to be removed from how someone looks to who they are. New Years resolutions should not be about achieving a flat stomach, but about how to make this world a better place.

Anyone else have really deep late night thoughts about the concept of marriage? Like why do we have to have a huge ceremony and sign legal documents just to love someone forever? I kinda think loving someone enough to not even care about being married to them is almost even more beautiful.

idk why ppl act like funny women are a rare precious commodity when every woman i know is a got damn comedian and i’ve met maybe two intentionally funny men in my lifetime
